The project for building 102’s 4.800 sqm parking lot at the EU Joint Research Center campus in Ispra was developed aiming for low maintenance, high energy performances, and high durability. The parking was designed to maximize the reduction of soil consumption: the structure is made of pillars, requiring little excavations and with a small footprint on the ground. Finishing is set with a single material: draining, light concrete, which promotes soil permeability and limits the heath island effect thanks to its porous structure; it shrinks construction time, reducing sound pollution and carbon emissions. The whole parking lot is a solar field: is covered with 1136 photovoltaic panels, with a peak output of 450 kW.
At EU Joint Research Center campus in Ispra, AOUMM is developing a largescale project of about 20.000 sqm, involving different parts of the territorial research hub, related to local features as well as supra-territorial values. After taking care of the design of building 101’s common spaces in 2019, the office is now busy with a multiphase project on building 102 and the strengthening of spatial relationships in the campus through green strategies. The activity involves the interior design, masterplanning, landscape design, and the project for a 4.800 sqm parking lot.
