Location: Florence, Prague, Berlin
In response to the competition brief, the hall and the bedrooms of three hostels in Florence, Prague and Berlin have been conceived to turn each hostel into a device to value the collective heritage held in cities’ museums, made of an ensemble of social, historical, relational factors as well as tangible assets. The walls of common areas are turned into a catalogue of the magnificent works existing in the city through a collection of images able to light visitors’ curiosity, as an Instagram scroll. Each of these elements becomes a design feature in the rooms, providing immediate recognizability and amplifying the communicative vocation held in the “cultural artifacts”. Each hostel is then a personal museum to cross, room after room, with suggestions to visit Florence, Prague or Berlin, leaving to the visitor the freedom to establish new connections among the objects, through time and space.
