AOUMM is a design firm operating nationally and internationally within the domains of architectural, landscape, urban, interior, and exhibition design, developing projects where different expertise triggers unexpected synergies.
AOUMM is based in Milan and led by Luca Astorri, Riccardo Maria Balzarotti, Rossella Locatelli and Matteo Umberto Poli.
Architect trained in Milan and Lisbon, Luca has extensive hands-on experience in private and public projects, as ...well as participatory and cooperation projects. He worked at OMA – Office for Metropolitan Architecture and has collaborated with several NGOs in Africa and South America since 2010. He runs his practice AOUMM and co-directs the in-loco program for development projects in Africa with the non-profit social enterprise RISE International. He taught, lectured, and led design workshops at major institutions in Europe, Asia, South America.
Riccardo is an architect and partner at AOUMM, where he manages design and research projects at different ... scales for the private and public sectors, as well as complex strategic plans. He studied in Milan and Paris, and worked with CZA – Cino Zucchi Architetti and Studio Italo Rota. He is a research fellow at Politecnico di Milano, where he also works in education. He gave lectures and talks at several international institutions and events, and since 2018, he has been writing for the architectural magazine YouBuild.
Architect, Rossella conducts research on the border between architecture, exhibition design, and the history of ... material culture, with a specific interest in fashion history. She studied in Milan and Paris and worked at Onsitestudio from 2008 to 2011. Today she runs her architectural practice, AOUMM, focusing on research and interior and exhibition design, and teaches and lectures in major European design schools. She writes for architectural, design, and culture magazines such as Domus, Rivista Studio, Vogue Italia.
Matteo is an architect and strategic planner. Since 1997 he has gained international experience in ...architecture, urban design, and landscape projects. Trained in Milan, Barcelona, and Delft, he worked at West 8 and OMA - Office for Metropolitan Architecture. He currently acts as a scientific consultant for all AOUMM's design and research activities. Since 2005, he has been teaching Landscape Architecture at Politecnico di Milano. He has been an editor for Domus and special correspondent for Abitare, where he currently writes.
